About Dr Giselle Withers
Dr Giselle Withers is an experienced Clinical Psychologist, providing psychological therapy and counselling for adults and adolescents.
Giselle has over 20 years of experience and professional training in helping people to overcome a wide range of problems, including depression, anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, over-eating, and chronic illness. She also a particular interest in helping people manage Chronic Pain, Sleep Disorders and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.
Giselle has a compassionate and non-judgmental counselling style. She listens carefully to understand the person behind the problems they face, and tailors her treatment to the needs of each client. Her treatment approach draws on a range of evidence-based interventions such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing for trauma (EMDR), and Inter-personal Therapy (IPT). She is also developing skills in Schema Therapy and Internal Family Systems (IFS). When appropriate she can offer clinical hypnosis to assist with treatment efficacy.

Giselle is a registered psychologist with AHPRA and is a member of the College of Clinical Psychology with the Australian Psychological Society. She has completed eight years of university training and holds the following qualifications:
- Doctor of Psychology (Clinical, Child Adolescent and Family Psychology). La Trobe University, Melbourne.
- Post Graduate Diploma in Health Psychology. La Trobe University, Melbourne.
- Bachelor of Applied Science (Psychology and Psychophysiology). Swinburne University, Melbourne.
- Diploma in Clinical Hypnosis with the Australian Association of Clinical Hypnosis
Giselle has completed additional training courses in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing), Narrative Therapy, and attends training workshops every year as part of her professional development.
In addition to her psychology training, Giselle is a qualified Yoga Teacher (YTT200) with 25 years of personal experience of yoga and mindfulness meditation to bring to her work.
